Let's be honest. When Horus Heresy 3.0 dropped, the reaction wasn't exactly unanimous excitement.
For every player who dove straight in, there were plenty more who held back. New rulebook. New edition. A fairly significant investment to get started. It's understandable — nobody wants to sink money into something they're not sure they'll enjoy, especially when the hobby shelf is already groaning under the weight of unpainted models.
But here's the thing we've noticed at West Allotment Wildlings: the curiosity hasn't gone away. People are asking questions. People are watching YouTube battle reports at midnight. People are quietly pricing up Legion lists they haven't told anyone about yet.

So What's Actually Stopping You?
The most common thing we hear is cost. And it's a fair point — a full Horus Heresy army is not a small commitment. Rulebook, Legion army book, models, paints — it adds up before you've even rolled a dice. For a game you've never played, that's a lot to ask.
The second thing we hear is uncertainty. Is 3.0 actually good? Is it worth getting into now, or will there be another edition in two years? Will I even enjoy it?
Those are completely reasonable questions. And Into the Heresy is designed to answer all of them — for free, in person, with dice in your hand.
No Outlay. No Commitment. Just Games.
Into the Heresy is a free taster evening, hosted by West Allotment Wildlings in partnership with DNL Models NE. Armies will be provided on the night — you don't need to own a single model, a rulebook, or even know what a Legion is. You just need to turn up.
If you want to bring your own 1000pt force, brilliant — bring it along. But if you're coming in completely fresh, we've got you covered. The whole point is to get you playing 3.0 with no pressure and no prior investment required.
Grab a friend, bring a rival, or come on your own. It doesn't matter. The only rule on the night is to enjoy yourself.
And There Are Awards
Because it wouldn't be a WAW event without a bit of ceremony. DNL Models NE are putting up DNL Dice Trays and GW dice as awards throughout the evening — handed out for moments like Best Cinematic Moment and Most Spectacular Failure. Because sometimes the stories that come from things going gloriously wrong are the best ones.
