Bay of Wildlings — Our First Weekend at Bay Games

Last weekend marked a first for West Allotment Wildlings: our first tournament weekend held at Bay Games, and the club couldn't have asked for a better welcome from the venue.

Day 1 — Bay of Wildlings Open I

A singles tournament is the classic test of a Warhammer army: one player, one list, three or more rounds against whoever the pairings throw at you. It's where you find out whether your list actually holds up under pressure, whether your painting matches your ambition on the table, and whether you can adapt your plan when the mission or the terrain doesn't go your way. Ten players brought their armies (and their best-painted models) for a relaxed, chilled-out day of exactly that. The standard of painting on display was excellent throughout, and the atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for from a first outing at the new venue.

Day 2 — Our First Doubles Tournament

Doubles is a different beast entirely. Instead of building one list to do everything, you and your partner split the job between you — one army might bring the heavy hitters while the other covers objectives, screens, or board control. Games hinge as much on how well two players communicate and combine their turns as on raw list strength, and it rewards fielding something you'd never quite risk solo. Day two saw 12 teams battling it out across the day, all leaning into that combined-arms spirit.

A special mention has to go to our younger players, who brought a fantastic attitude and a real grasp of the rules — great to see the next generation of Wildlings holding their own.
