At the start of 2026, Games Workshop threw down one of the biggest community challenges in the hobby's history: paint one million miniatures — collectively, globally — before May 9th. And West Allotment Wildlings, in partnership with Warhammer Newcastle, were never going to sit that one out.
Members from across the club have made their pledges, collected their tracking cards, and got their brushes loaded. From modest but mighty 25-miniature commitments to jaw-dropping 500-strong ambitions, the Wildlings have brought their full hobby energy to the challenge. Here's how we're stacking up.
What Is the 1 Million Miniatures Challenge?
The Million Miniatures Challenge is Games Workshop's New Year, New Challenge campaign for 2026. The concept is brilliantly simple: head to your local Warhammer store, pledge to paint 25+, 50+, or 100+ miniatures, receive your tracking card, and get painting. Faction doesn't matter. Game system doesn't matter. Size of miniatures doesn't matter. All that counts is how many you can get done before the celebration day on Saturday 9th May.
Hit your milestone and you earn rewards: a 1 Million Miniatures pin badge at 25+, a purity seal water pot stand at 50+, and a paint brush tin at 100+. The rewards are cumulative — so if you hit 100, you get all three. The scale of the ambition is genuinely staggering: Games Workshop's rough maths suggests they need 10,000 painters hitting 100 miniatures each, or 40,000 painters doing 25 each, just to reach the target. The Warhammer community's job is to prove those numbers aren't as daunting as they sound.
The Wildlings Answer the Call
In partnership with Warhammer Newcastle, our members have been heading in, making their pledges, and leaving with their tracking cards. The numbers are impressive. Combined, the pledges from our members alone total well over 1,000 miniatures — a serious contribution to the global effort.
Let's meet the pledgers.

Colin — Pledged: 50 Miniatures
Pledged at 50, Colin is targeting the purity seal water pot stand. With the West Allotment Community Centre mural watching over him, there's no backing out now.
Paul A — Pledged: 100 Miniatures
Paul A is going for the full brush tin reward with a 100-miniature pledge — and that big smile suggests he's already got a plan. He arrived with a painted mini already in hand, which says everything about where his head is at.
Stephen — Pledged: 500 Miniatures 🏆
Five hundred miniatures. That's not a pledge, that's a statement of intent. Stephen has set himself the most ambitious target in the Wildlings, putting everyone else firmly in his shadow. The tracking card thermometer doesn't even go that high, Stephen. We're in awe.
Pete — Pledged: 50 Miniatures
Pete pledged 50, and you can see the armies on the gaming tables behind him — clearly he's been spending more time playing than painting, but that's all about to change. COYF, Pete.
Kev — Pledged: 100 Miniatures
Kev is going for 100 — a proper brush tin pledge. There's a suspiciously large pile of hobby on the table behind him that suggests he might already have a head start.
Matt Y — Pledged: 100 Miniatures
Another 100-pledge from Matt Y. The green fleece is very on-brand for someone who's presumably got a lot of green paint to get through. We're rooting for you, Matt.
Rob — Pledged: 120 Miniatures
Rob pledged 120 and his card already shows 120 painted total — meaning he's potentially already done it. That card is a work of art. Maximum respect.
Lee — Pledged: 25 Miniatures
Lee has pledged 25 — the pin badge tier — and is absolutely delighted about it. That laugh says everything. Realistic goals, maximum enjoyment. We love it.
Gareth — Pledged: 200 Miniatures
Gareth showed up wearing the Wildlings Clan Member t-shirt and pledged 200 miniatures. Two hundred. In full club kit. This is what commitment looks like. Respect.
Michael — Pledged: 50 Miniatures
Michael pledged 50 — and you can see exactly where those miniatures are coming from. That foam tray of unpainted grey models in front of him is his mountain to climb. Get those brushes out, Michael!
The Wildlings Total: 1,145 Miniatures Pledged
Add it all up and the Wildlings have collectively pledged 1,145 miniatures toward the global target. Michael (50), Colin (50), Paul A (100), Stephen (500), Pete (50), Kev (100), Matt Y (100), Rob (120), Lee (25), Gareth (200). Every single brush stroke counts.
The celebration day is Saturday 9th May 2026 at Warhammer Newcastle. That's the day to bring your completed minis, show off your progress, and claim your rewards. The clock is ticking — get those brushes out!
